Press Release-

The Congress held in Torino, Italy was another successful meeting. The ICMP relies on colleagues to share their knowledge with international prosthetic scholars. This was achieved, with over 240 colleagues from 27 difference countries in attendance. Presentations consisted of 69 oral and 59 poster presentations. Professor Giulio Preti and his staff from the University of Torino, Department of Prosthetics are to be congratulated for the outstanding venue and organization.

We wish to acknowledge special appreciation to our Congress Sponsors; Universita’ degli Studi di Torino, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center - Dental Services, Maxillofacial Prosthetic Clinic at the University of California at Los Angeles and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Generous support from Castellini, a dental equipment supplier, granted us with a magnificent meeting facility. Our program was held in one of Europe’s most spectacular conference locations - Lingotto Conference Centre. Originally a Fiat car factory, and recently redesigned by the world-famous Italian architect, Renzo Piano, this state-of-the-art center was a magnificent venue for our World Congress.

Conference topics ranged from Osseointegrated Implants, Bone Graphs, Mandibular and Maxillary Defects, Clinical Evaluations, Radiation Stents and Rehabilitation of Head and Neck Patients. New to our program was a day of continuing education courses, organized by Dr. John Beumer from the Maxillofacial Prosthetic Clinic at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Conference Social Events included wonderful meals, and all agreed that dining in Italy is a "gastronomic" way of life. A Welcome Reception was held during our fist day, where colleagues renewed old acquaintanceships and establish new friends. A variety of Italian cuisine and wines accompanied music and our conference poster review. The Torino University Symphony Orchestra, with conductor Carlo Manzo, provided an "evening to remember" performing a private Congress Concert with music from Beethoven, Schubert and Rossini. The "grand finale" was our ICMP Banquet. Honors were bestowed on Giulio Preti and his staff at the University of Torino Dental School. Professor Preti surprised all, when he announced that the Medical Faculty of the University of Torino awarded unanimously the honorary Doctorate of Medicine to John Beumer from UCLA. This is a first ever for a dentist in the long history of one of the oldest medical schools in Europe. No one is more deserving than John is…. Congratulations from the ICMP.

Our international Congresses continue to be supported by government, institutions and various organizations. The President of Italian Republic, The Ministry of Public Health, the Piedmont Regional Government, the Torino Municipal Government, and the University of Torino patronized this conference. Organizations such as; Collegio dei Docenti di Odontoiatria, the Societ Italiana di Otorinolaringoiatria, the Societ Italiana di Odontostomatologia e Chirurgia Maxillo-facciale, the Societ Italiana di Radioterapia Oncologica, the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, the Japanese Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, and the Korean Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics supported our program.

We wish to extent our special thanks to all those who contribute and help bring together the leading professionals throughout the world, so that patients may benefit from our International Congresses. Let us continue to address the challenges in maxillofacial prosthetics and we look forward to seeing everyone in...
